Print- The Triangulum (M33)
The Triangulum Galaxy, otherwise known as Messier 33, is the second closest galaxy to our Milky Way after Andromeda. It is located relatively close at approximately 2.7 million light years away and contains roughly 40 billion stars! The galaxy is full of nebulae which are colorfully displayed in this image with the enhancement of Hydrogen alpha and Oxygen iii narrowband data.
This image is the integration of 667 photographs, totaling over 75 hours of exposure time! Photos were taken between August and October, 2024 from Sierra Remote Observatories in California. Photographs were captured with Luminance, Red, Green and Blue filters to highlight the reflection nebula, and with a Hydrogen alpha and Oxygen iii filters for the surrounding gas.
